Teaching involves regular interaction with children in a changing world. What was
perfectly alright a decade ago has now become redundant. And so, teachers have to
be equipped well enough to cope with the changing atmosphere inside the classroom.
To make this possible, the school has started a Teacher’s Resource Centre-Gnanotri-which
is supported by Ratan Tata Trust with the collaboration of ‘The Teacher Foundation’.
The Resource Centre is open to schools in and around Kumarans and its activities
includes workshops to share innovative teaching techniques, and updating teaching
methodologies along with talks given by eminent people on understanding and improving
the socio-emotional intelligence of the children. Workshops also include annual
competitions, among teachers of various schools.
The helping hand does not stop at the teachers; it also extends to the children. Children on the verge of leaving school are given career counseling. Children and parents are called separately to help both sides decide which career would be most suitable for them.
The school also takes care of the emotional needs of the children. The counselor, Mrs. Bhavani Chandrashekar, attends to the children on a one-on-one basis to help them resolve any emotional problems, and also addresses the classes on issues that concern them.
