Computer Curriculum
Computer Science has made rapid advances and is evolving constantly.
EZVidya, an organization committed to enhancing the computer literacy levels across the country, specifically designs our computer curriculum for classes 4,5 and 7.
Class 6
The computer curriculum for class 6 was designed in house. The curriculum includes learning software tools, cyber safety, thinking- out –of- the -box activities, team activities. The cover page of the computer project manual is designed by students.
We endeavor to incorporate fresh ideas into the EZVidya curriculum framework to enthuse students and thus lay a firm foundation for learning advanced concepts.
- The curriculum integrates various popular software packages like MS PowerPoint, LOGO, Micro worlds, Ulead Gif Animator, Q BASIC with appropriate themes. This ensures familiarity with both programming theories as well as graphic designing effects.
- High school curriculum that has been developed in house is designed to make the student more proficient in technology that can be applied to academics. Software like Corel Draw which is useful for creating brochures and other professional artwork, HTML, instrumental in web page designing, is taught in Class 8.
- Learning Visual Basic enforces programming literacy while learning Photoshop triggers visual thinking in students of Class 9.
- Flash, which aids in creating superior animation along with advanced HTML concepts, is offered to students in Class 10.
The computer curriculum is systematic and is instrumental in honing thinking and organizational skills in students. There is a gradual assimilation and application of concepts learnt in lower classes as students move to higher classes. Every class has one module encompassing computer programming and this evidently builds the students’ logical and thinking skills as they graduate to classes 11 & 12.
Infrastructure
Our school has well equipped computer labs with state of the art infrastructure. Thin client- blade-server technology has been implemented. Blades are slim, mini servers mounted in a chassis in rows. Each blade has memory, processors, storage and network software with applications and operating systems. The blades are connected to servers located in separate server rooms.
Two computer labs in the junior block with adjoining theory rooms house 80 thin clients attached to flat screen monitors, moving away from the traditional desktop scenario. A multimedia lab with 32 high end digital workstations has also been setup.
Two computer labs with theory rooms incorporating latest technology are provided for the use of senior students. The internet is a repository of information for easy reference and this is used extensively by teachers and students to keep abreast of latest developments. Students work regularly on technology to present academic projects.
An audiovisual room that can seat around 50 people is situated in the junior block and in the senior block.
Technology trends
IT Fair, which showcases the talents of young minds, is an annual feature, and is well received by parents. Students compete in a positive ambience to display their creativity across a wide spectrum of activities. The Quiz on technology trends, carefully researched and presented by high school students comes as a pleasant surprise to parents who attend the IT fair.
E-learning goes beyond the realms of classroom learning as students attend inter school competitions and win accolades for their performance. Students of our school show a great deal of enthusiasm in participating in TCS quiz, a prestigious event for high school students across the country.
