It is widely agreed that the purpose of education is that students shall be trained
not only to know the right things but also to behave in the right way. Thus education
is mainly divided into Curricular and Co-curricular activities. Besides intellectual
growth, education shall also cater to emotional, physical, psychological and
social development.Development in these areas may take place if curricular
activities are supplemented with co-curricular activities which are very important
for realizing the goals of education.
To achieve these goals our school has been encouraging the students to participate in various activities. Since 2007, a visit to NASA Space Camp(Huntsville, Alabama, USA) has been a part of our outdoor educational programme for our school [7th std and above] and college students. Our institution is planning to arrange a visit to NASA Space camp this year as well.
Supported by NASA, Space Camp provides real world applications in Math, Science, Engineering and Technology. Students thinking of high-tech career will get hands on training and learn about the emotional, mental and physical demands that astronauts and technologists must face.
We plan to schedule a 10 day visit every year for the students of classes VII to X based on conditions and circumstances.
A detailed programme schedule will be provided when the programme is arranged every year.
On 11th October 2007, 22 students of our group of institutions set out on a mission to NASA Space Camp, Huntsville, Alabama, USA escorted & guided by Mrs. Deepa Sridhar, Principal, Sri Kumaran Children’s Home - CBSE and Mr. Ravi Shankar H.V, Teacher – Sri Kumaran Public School – ICSE.In addtion Clubbed with this, they also had a memorable trip to New York for 4 days where they visited United Nations along with other places of interest. The trip is not without some opportunity for leisure for these students: in At Orlando, they spent three days having lot of fun at three amusement parks - Disney-MGM Studio, Islands of Adventure and Magic Kingdom.
